FSA Nears Completion of Major Two-Year Signage Upgrade
The Fernie Snowmobile Association is nearing completion of a major two-year project to upgrade and modernize trail signage throughout our managed riding areas. This work is the latest in a series of significant infrastructure improvements completed over the past few years and will further strengthen rider education, safety, navigation, and stewardship across the network.
What’s New
Delivered in stages over the past two seasons, this project brings a wide range of improvements to our riding areas, including:
A new welcome sign at the Coal Creek trailhead
Updated trail wayfinding and refreshed trail maps
Avalanche Terrain Exposure Scale (ATES) signage
New stewardship and regulatory messaging
Interpretive and safety panels inside our cabins
Improved signage clarifying motor-vehicle closure boundaries
Clear, consistent signage is essential for safe travel, respectful use of shared terrain, and helping riders move confidently and responsibly through the landscape. These upgrades support a safer, more informed experience for everyone who rides in Fernie.
A Community Effort
A project of this scale can only come to life through strong partnerships and community support. The FSA extends sincere thanks to:
Inter-Mtn. Enterprises for design and fabrication assistance
McDonald Ranch & Lumber for generously donating the kiosk timbers
The ORV Trail Fund for helping bridge the funding gap
Our partners across provincial Ministries for support and coordination
And most importantly, our dedicated volunteers, whose hard work and commitment made these improvements possible
Your Trail Dollars at Work
This project is funded directly through rider support. Every FSA membership contributes to the maintenance, improvement, and long-term sustainability of our trail system.
