Grooming Report

Dec 28, 2025 FSA Grooming Report

CONDITIONS:

This morning temperatures are -16°C, snowing, with light winds. 8cm of new snow overnight, 42cm in the past 48 hours, 80cm in the past 7 days, and total snowpack heights at cabin elevation 186cm.

Fernie has experienced several significant weather events in December, including periods of unusually high rainfall and strong winds from valley bottom to ridgetop at times. A highly variable freezing line during these story cycles have resulted in very shallow show below approximately 1,500m (think Graffiti Rock or Paige’s draw elevation). Our grooming team has been out working their magic and conditions are improving rapidly. Expect variable conditions on all trails with some few remaining spots of open water (most notably on lower Coal Creek trail).

Today: Sunny with afternoon cloudy periods.  High -10 or -11.

Tonight: Cloudy with clear periods, 40% chance of flurries overnight.  Low near -13.

GROOMING:

Corbin: Groomed from the staging area to the Rain Gauge Dec 26th . Groomed to the McClatchie on Dec 23rd.

Coal Creek: Variable conditions on lower trail up to about 1500m (Paige’s Draw) - few open water in lower sections of trail but conditions are improving daily. Good winter riding on all upper Coal Creek trails. Coal Creek, Doug Dean, Summit Trail groomed last night.

Morrissey: Variable conditions on lower trail between kiosk and approx 1km up. Good winter riding up top. Morrissey, McEvoy groomed last night. Trail to the Notch has been punched in but not groomed with the tiller yet.

Hartley: Significant trees down across trail after recent storms. Crew spent the day yesterday clearing what felt like hundreds of trees. More work required.

Ram: Open. No grooming. Note that there is significant damage to the Lodgepole FSR at 31km as well as the Ram FSR around km 40 due to flooding. Repairs underway.
