CONDITIONS:
This morning, it’s 1.7°C at cabin elevation with light winds. 4cm of new snow in the past 24 hours. Total snow in the past 7 days is 70cm. Total settled snowpack is 92cm and we have received 285cm of total snowfall this season. Fernie has had significant rain and variable freezing levels over the past several days. As a result, conditions are also quite variable with about 92cm of settled snowpack at treeline thinning to perhaps 6 inches in places at valley bottom. Creeks are open and running heavy due to the recent atmospheric river event. Early season conditions exist throughout - please ride with caution.
Today: Mainly cloudy with a 70% chance of flurries and possibly windy at times during the morning. Minor accumulation of snow possible. Cloudy with sunny breaks or sunny periods during the afternoon. High 1 or 2. Tonight, cloudy with clear periods during the evening. Increasing cloud and increasing wind overnight, 40% chance of flurries near morning. Low near -1, slightly milder overnight.
Tomorrow: Mainly cloudy with a 60% chance of flurries/light rain. High near 1. Increasing chance of precipitation late Sunday night. Windy at times. Low 0 or 1.
GROOMING:
Corbin: Parking lot plowed. Trail bladed and track packed from staging area to Rain Gauge yesterday. The creeks are running high and fast between the Rain Gauge and the McClatchie preventing snow bridging and further road building at this time. We are now in regular operation at Corbin - please have your membership or online day ticket purchase receipt available to show trailhead staff. Day tickets also available for purchase at the trailhead - cash only $30.
Coal Creek: Road building starts December 16th. Tentative first groom is Dec 20th.
Morrissey: Road building stars December 16th. Tentative first groom is Dec 20th.
Hartley: Tentative first groom is Dec 28th
