Teck - Harmer / Chauncey Closure

A NOTE FROM TECK…

There are two fish habitat improvement projects scheduled this field season that will temporarily close through-access on Harmer Dam Road between August 8 - 21, 2021, and temporarily impact traffic with potential construction delays on Fording Road until September 15, 2021. Timeline is permitting dependent.

Harmer Dam Road Groundwater Well Drilling Program

As part of the proposed Harmer Dam Removal Project, a groundwater well drilling program will temporarily close through-access on Harmer Dam Road for four days between August 8 - 21, 2021. The exact dates have not yet been scheduled, but we will post a notice near the closure once the dates have been confirmed. Removing the Harmer Dam will connect two populations of Westslope Cutthroat Trout, improve fish passage, and restore fish habitat and riparian areas to the Harmer Creek.

Chauncey Creek Bridge Construction on Fording Road

Construction of the Chauncey Bridge has resumed as of June 14, 2021, with bridge and roadwork completion expected by August 15, 2021. This work will involve the construction of the structure, upgrading and paving of the Fording Road bridge approaches, and reclamation of the detour road. The final project completion and traffic restoration is expected by September 15, 2021.
